FBC, Topeka, Holds Backpack Bash
On Aug. 6, 486 children and their parents attended a carnival-type event and registered for free school supplies at First Baptist Church, Topeka. The event featured music, inflatables, snacks and sno cones, a drawing for prizes, and several community volunteers and non-profit organizations. Between 50-60 volunteers from the congregation came out to help with the event and mingle with visiting families. Besides school supplies, the backpacks contained information about the church, as well as a handwritten note to the child offering prayers for a successful school year.
